5 Fun Family Game Night Recommendations

family game night

Over the holidays, we purchased a few new games to try out for Family Game Night. One of my many goals is always to bring more FUN and connection to our everyday.

Throughout the year, certain games have become more popular in our household. We have tried and loved all of the following games. So, here they are, in order of our preference and frequency of play.

Most Laughs

cards against humanity

1. Cards Against Humanity Family Edition – We have never LAUGHED so hard during family game night! This version was perfectly safe for young ears and SO much fun! As long as your family is ok with a little hilarious kid-aged bodily humor, this fun game is a great choice. I love games that can be played anywhere. We have dogs. So, game boards are hard to play on the floor. Card games with not a lot of setup are ideal for our family. This was an instant family favorite!

2. Twister Ultimate – My kids are in LOVE with this classic game. With a bigger mat in this version, it is the perfect way to burn off some energy, keep their sibling distance and get some laughs. Thankfully, I can just be the spinner and don’t have to contort my body in weird ways just to play along.

3. Battleship – This is a great two person game. My 10 year old twins can play this together, just about anywhere in the house. Although, I don’t love all the little pieces that somehow don’t make it back in the box and end up in my vacuum. I love that there is a clear ending to the game and it can be completed in the perfect amount of time to keep them entertained for a little bit.

Most Brainy

4. Guess in 10 Cities Around the World – This one might be my favorite because my husband and I love to learn about geography. Although my kids enjoyed guessing and learning, their attention spans were shorter due to the larger world geography content. Perhaps the other options of this game (Guess in 10 Animals or Landmarks) might be better suited for their age group.

family game night uno

5. Emoji Uno – Just like regular Uno, this fun updated card set makes for an easy game night. Not always the quickest, this classic game is a favorite in our family. It has an easy setup and everyone knows how to play. I love games that make for friendly competition and many moments of laughter.

There you have it! Our top 5 picks for an easy (and fun) family game night! As a busy mom, I’m always looking for quick and easy ways to add more fun into our lives. These games are the perfect fix.

I keep being reminded that “connection builds willingness“. If you find your kids are not listening and pushing back on EVERYTHING… try a quick family game night to build back some easy and fun connection time.
