Growing up I’ve always loved Halloween (like most people). Especially, once I became a parent… I loved shopping for costumes and deciding what to do to celebrate the day.
Now that Meilani (my daughter in college), is busy living her “best collegiate life”, I get to experience holidays from a new vantage point.
However, what about the parents & kids in 2021 (trying to figure out how to have Halloween during a global pandemic)?
Luckily, this seems to be on the minds of many individuals. For starters, the “trunk or treat” model (used at schools & many churches) is perfect. It’s utilizing the outdoors & allowing us to maintain “social distancing practices”, while allowing families to still have a great Halloween experience.
Here are some of my tips to making the most of the occasion:
Enjoy picking out the Halloween costume (& dressing up). This is a huge part of the experience, so enjoy it!
Watch your favorite movie with some “tasty treats” in your costume. Especially, if you are not comfortable being around non family member’s. This is actually lots of fun & a great way to fully maximize your Halloween experience.
Lastly, search social media for events & various posts (to garner some creative ideas that meet your needs). This is often my “go to” when I am in need of some “creativity”.
This is our 2nd Halloween dealing with the “new normal” and I think we are doing an amazing job adjusting. Let’s continue to share ideas and thoughts, so we can continue to thrive in uncharted territory.
Happy Halloween & Stay Safe! 🎃 👻 😷
